Annual Gas Checks
We are required by law to carry out a service and check on your gas boiler. This means that we need access to your home within 12 months of the last check. 2 months before the service is due, our contractor, City Building, will contact you by letter with an appointment date and time. If you cannot make the appointment, it is really important that you contact us or the contractor to re-arrange. The details of how to do this will be in the letter.
If we do not hear from you and the contractor does not get access to your home, we will try two more times. If we still don’t get access, we will be forced to change your lock and gain entry. We are allowed to do this by law, but would much prefer that we work with you to gain entry.
If you have any issues with us getting into your home, you should contact your housing officer or our Maintenance Department to discuss this.
5 Year Electric Checks
We are required to check that the electrics in your home are fit for purpose. We do this every 5 years. Just like the gas service, we or the contractor will write to you to ask for access to your property.
If we do not hear from you and the contractor does not get access to your home, we will try two more times. If we still don’t get access, we will be forced to change your lock and gain entry. We are allowed to do this by law, but would much prefer that we work with you to gain entry.
