Radio Teleswitching Service : Action Required

⚠️ Action Required: The Radio Teleswitching Service (RTS) is Closing in June 2025!

If you rely on electric heating or hot water powered by a Radio Teleswitch (RTS) meter, it’s essential you take action before 30 June 2025 to avoid losing access to these vital services.

What is the Radio Teleswitching Service?

The Radio Teleswitching Service is a remote signal system used by electricity suppliers to switch certain electricity meters between different tariff rates. It is most commonly found in traditional multi-rate meters that support:

  • Electric storage heaters

  • Panel heaters

  • Immersion water heaters

These systems are typically set to charge during off-peak hours – often overnight – via a radio signal that tells them when to turn on or off.

Why Is It Being Switched Off?

The RTS system will be permanently shut down on Monday, 30 June 2025. After this date, any meter or heating system still dependent on this signal may stop working correctly.

What You Need to Do

If your home uses electric storage heating or you suspect you have an RTS meter:

  1. Contact your electricity supplier immediately to check whether your meter is affected.

  2. Arrange for your meter to be replaced, if required, well before June 2025 to ensure continuity of service.

  3. Do not wait – even if your supplier hasn’t reached out yet, it’s your responsibility to confirm.

⚠️ If you do not replace your RTS meter before the shutdown date, your electric heating and hot water systems may stop working.
