Home Investment & Maintenance

As well as the repairs you report to us, we also have planned maintenance which takes place at scheduled dates.

Planned maintenance helps us to keep your homes and neighbourhoods well maintained, both now and in the future. Planned maintenance can involve replacing windows, kitchens or bathrooms, as well as improving our common spaces.

The Scottish Government has set all housing associations in Scotland a target to achieve improved energy efficiency (EESSH) in all of their homes by 2020. The main focus of Southside Housing Association’s planned investment programmes for years 2017 –2020 will be towards improving the Energy Efficiency of our homes, tackling fuel poverty and meeting the Energy Efficiency Standards for the Social Housing (EESSH) and beyond.

We will be carrying out various major works to improve the Energy Efficiency of hard to heat stock, upgrade storage heating systems to more energy efficient heating, internal and external insulation, insulate areas above un-heated lock ups in Cardonald and Pollokshields Mini Multis and high rise stock.

In partnership with Glasgow City Council, we were able to secure Home Energy Efficiency Programme Funding (HEEPS) to carry out external wall insulation works to a number of tenemental properties in Pollokshields and Cardonald. Works to all properties were completed in November 2016 and it is expected that resident’s energy bills could be reduced by between 10% – 25% following the works.

Medical Adaptations

Each year Southside Housing Association has a budget set aside to carry out adaptations to help tenants who have medical or mobility issues.  If you are a tenant of the Association, we can consider adaptations such as a level access shower instead of a bath or the installation of an over-bath shower. Even the simple installation of a grabrail or handrail may make all the difference.
